1939 Marx, Flash Gordon Rocket Fighter
Classic clockwork steel litho toy based on the popular comic strip created by Alex Raymond. Loaded with details, the ship is primarily red and yellow with black and white highlights. This is the earlier steel litho version. The toy was resurrected again in 1951 in tin litho, but without the Flash Gordon name on it. In addition, the 1951 toy was produced in a third version without the Flash Gordon name and without the number "5" on the wings. Designed with lightning bolts, rocket exhausts, front and rear horizontal fins, an open cockpit surrounded by an silver painted steel cowl, and Flash Gordon himself with ray gun in hand. As the toy moves forward it makes a rat-tat-tat sound and emits sparks from the rear exhaust. It works great! To see the original box look for other examples in the Archives. Size: 12".
